Woman's
Missionary Union (WMU)
The umbrella organization for missions education in
FBC, Denton is the WMU. It serves as the watchman to
call the church to fill its role as a sending, supporting
organization for mission efforts around the world. It
provides opportunities for church members to study,
pray about, give to and be involved in missions. It
coordinates the work of the various missions education
groups for children and women: Women on Missions, Girls
in Action, and Mission Friends.
WMU works with the church leaders to accomplish the
goals of the church and helps to create an environment
where individuals can easily hear and follow God's calling
for mission service.
Women On Missions (WOM)
WOM is the organization for women 18 years of age and
older to grow in their relationship to Christ and in
missions education and involvement. Through ongoing
and small groups, and individually as involved members,
women are involved in fulfilling the tasks of the WMU
and of the church. Facilitators of the various groups,
along with the age-group leaders, serve with the WMU
Director on the WMU Leadership team.
Mission
Friends
Mission Friends serves as the missions education organization
for preschoolers, especially ages four and five. The
children can begin to move their focus from self to
others as they become aware that God loves them and
that they can be helpers in sharing with other people
who have not heard about His love.
